Special Invitation for a Football Match: Malta vs Poland

Attending the Malta vs Poland football match at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali this November was a memorable experience for many reasons. It was my first time watching a football game in Malta, and the occasion itself carried a special weight — not only as a sporting event, but as a cultural and emotional moment.

The atmosphere around the stadium was electric from the very beginning. Ta’ Qali filled steadily with supporters, and it was immediately clear that this match meant a lot to both sides. What stood out most was the strong presence of Polish fans. Red and white scarves, flags, and chants created a familiar feeling far from home. As a Polish person living in Malta, seeing so many fellow supporters gathered together was deeply moving.

The moment that truly stayed with me was hearing the Polish national anthem played in the stadium. Standing there, in Malta, listening to words that have accompanied so many important moments in Polish history, I felt an unexpected wave of emotion. It was a reminder of identity, roots, and how sport has a unique way of connecting people across borders.

On the pitch, the presence of world-class players such as Robert Lewandowski added to the sense of occasion. Seeing a player of his stature perform live, rather than on a screen, was superb and underlined the importance of the match. The level of football, the discipline, and the passion shown by both teams made the evening truly special.

For me, this was more than just a football match. It was an experience that combined sport, national pride, and the reality of living between countries. I am very grateful to VisitMalta for the invitation and for making it possible to witness such an important event in Maltese football history. It was an evening I will remember for a long time — emotional, powerful, and beautifully unifying.
