There are places that stay in your heart, and people who make them feel like home. For me, Portofino is exactly that — and da I Gemelli Ristorante, led by the twin brothers Matteo and Paolo, is at the centre of it. This year I had the privilege to begin their season here at the end of March, and just as beautifully, to close it with them now. It feels like completing a full circle — one that’s personal, emotional, and full of gratitude.
Spending the weekend in Portofino with Matteo and Paolo reminded me once again why I love this part of Italy so much. Their restaurant isn’t just about food; it’s about heart, tradition, and friendship. We shared moments over their signature dishes — fresh seafood, homemade pasta, and desserts that carry the essence of Italian craftsmanship. Everything they do has that unmistakable Portofino charm — elegant, effortless, and full of soul.
This visit wasn’t only about filming or work; it was about connection. I’ve known Matteo and Paolo for some time now, and each encounter deepens my respect for their dedication and passion. They represent everything I admire about Italy — family, authenticity, and the joy of doing what you love.
After visiting over forty cities across Italy this year, coming back to Portofino truly felt like coming home. There’s something timeless about this place — the sound of the sea, the view from the harbour, the way locals greet you by name. It’s a small world, but full of big memories.
As I closed this season at I Gemelli, I couldn’t help but feel thankful — for the experiences, the friendships, and the stories that continue to grow. Portofino will always be part of my journey, and Matteo and Paolo, part of my Italian family. Until next time — arrivederci Portofino.
