As part of my Italy Tour 2024, which has already taken me through 30 stunning cities, my recent trip to Puglia offered an unforgettable experience of this southern Italian gem. Puglia, with its sun-drenched coastlines and rich cultural history, is a destination that truly captures the essence of Italy.
Starting in Bari, the capital of Puglia, I wandered through its narrow streets, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. Bariโs historic center, with its charming piazzas and impressive architecture, offers a perfect blend of the old and new. Of course, no visit to Bari is complete without tasting the regionโs iconic dish, orecchiette pasta, served with rich tomato sauce and local olive oil. The simplicity and freshness of the ingredients made it an unforgettable meal.
Next, I visited Polignano a Mare, a coastal town perched dramatically on cliffs overlooking the Adriatic. Its breathtaking views and crystal-clear waters made for an ideal spot to unwind. From there, I ventured to Monopoli, a town known for its beautiful port and seafood delicacies, where I indulged in the freshest catch of the day.
A highlight of my trip was exploring the unique trulli houses in Alberobello, a UNESCO World Heritage site. These whitewashed, conical-roofed structures transport you to another time, and learning about their history was a captivating experience.
Lastly, I made a stop in Molfetta, a hidden gem where the local culture shines through in every corner, from its bustling markets to its friendly locals.
Pugliaโs charm lies not only in its stunning landscapes and rich history but also in the warmth of its people and the delicious, traditional food I was lucky enough to try. Watch the videos below to join me on this unforgettable journey!
